Medica and CHI Health Bring Medicare Advantage to Omaha-Council Bluffs Market

MINNETONKA, Minn. — Medica and CHI Health are building on an established partnership to bring innovative Medicare Advantage plan options to the Omaha – Council Bluffs market. Medica Advantage Solution® with CHI Health (HMO) & (PPO) is available to eligible seniors in an 11-county area that includes Butler, Cass, Dodge, Douglas, Lancaster, Sarpy, Saunders and Washington counties in Nebraska and Harrison, Mills and Pottawattamie counties in Iowa.

For 2020 coverage, Medicare open enrollment will run from October 15 to December 7, 2019 and the effective coverage date is January 1, 2020.

Medica Advantage Solution with CHI Health plans are available in either an HMO or preferred provider organization (PPO) design. Key plan benefits include:

  • A $0 premium with the HMO plan
  • A provider network that features the CHI Health system of hospitals, primary care clinics, doctors and other affiliated practitioners
  • Other providers in the area.

Core benefits feature:

  • A $0 copay for in-network primary care visits and Tier I prescription drugs from preferred pharmacies
  • No referrals – ever
  • Out-of-network coverage with the PPO plan
  • An innovative extended travel benefit with the PPO plan that covers members living away from home for an extended period of time
  • Coverage for dental, eyewear and hearing aids
  • SilverSneakers fitness membership
  • An annual reimbursement for over-the-counter health and wellness products
  • Transportation service to medical appointments through Medica’s Provide-a-Ride® service,
  • A meals delivery program are also available to members who meet certain criteria.

For members who qualify for extra services, Medica Advantage Solution with CHI Health includes Healthy Savings®, a program that provides savings of 50% on fresh fruits and vegetables up to $65 per quarter. Participating retail grocers in the area include Hy-Vee, Bakers, and others.

Medica and CHI Health have been collaborating since 2017 to develop consumer-centric health plans for the Nebraska and southwest Iowa markets. Medica with CHI HealthSM was introduced to provide ACA-compliant coverage for individuals and families in 2018 and currently serves nearly 27,000 members.
