Engage by Medica Introduced to Southwestern Wisconsin

Features Mayo Clinic Health System as Key Provider in 14 Counties

September 5, 2017

MINNETONKA, Minn. — Medica and Mayo Clinic Health System today announced a new health plan for individuals and families in southwestern Wisconsin. The plan, Engage by Medica, will be available November 1, 2017 when the Open Enrollment Period for 2018 begins. A variety of benefit design options are available, including copay plans, health savings account compatible plans, and a catastrophic plan for those who qualify. Enrollment in the plan is available on the Wisconsin Health Insurance Marketplace (HealthCare.gov) for coverage on or after January 1, 2018.

Engage by Medica is available to Wisconsin residents who live in the following counties: Barron, Buffalo, Chippewa, Crawford, Dunn, Eau Claire, Jackson, La Crosse, Monroe, Pepin, Pierce, St. Croix, Trempealeau and Vernon. This reflects an expansion in Wisconsin for Medica into eight new counties for 2018. In addition to the Wisconsin service area, Engage by Medica is also available in 20 counties in southern Minnesota including an expansion into two new counties, Brown and Redwood. Enrollment in the plan for Minnesota consumers is available through MNsure.

A key feature of Engage by Medica is that care is provided by Mayo Clinic Health System and other providers in the Engage network — a large, localized provider network. Any provider in the network may be seen without a referral from participating health care systems. All providers have direct access to Mayo Clinic Health System expertise locally. Network providers can be found at medica.com/engageproviders after October 1, 2017 when the "window shopping" period of the 2018 Open Enrollment Period begins.

Additionally, Engage by Medica members can call the Mayo Clinic Health System nurse line any time of day or night for help deciding how to treat symptoms. Members also have online access to their Mayo Clinic Health System health records including lab results and clinical notes, along with the ability to send secure messages to their care team. Engage by Medica also features the Healthy Living with Medica program, a personalized wellness program with rewards and discounts earned for participation.

"Medica and Mayo Clinic Health System are committed to making care more efficient and accessible in Wisconsin," said Geoff Bartsh, Medica vice president for individual and family business.  "Engage by Medica does that by providing a seamless experience and expert, whole-person care to provide peace of mind to individuals and families experiencing significant health care issues."

"Mayo Clinic Health System and Medica continue to make access to high-quality health care convenient for the communities we serve," says Tim Johnson, M.D., regional vice president for Mayo Clinic Health System. "Through this health plan, members will get the individualized care they want and need to meet their health and wellness goals."

In addition to Engage by Medica, Medica Individual Choice plans will continue to be available in 13 counties in Wisconsin for 2018 including Ashland, Barron, Bayfield, Burnett, Chippewa, Douglas, Dunn, Eau Claire, Pierce, Polk, St. Croix, Sawyer and Washburn.
