Medica Names Paul Crowley to Position of Vice President and General Manager, Commercial Markets

MINNETONKA, Minn. — Medica today announced the promotion of Paul Crowley to vice president and general manager, commercial markets. The move is effective immediately. Crowley joined the organization in August 2013 as vice president and general manager, leading client retention and growth within the commercial markets business unit.

"Paul has been instrumental in building and maintaining profitable growth in our commercial markets business unit," said John Naylor, Medica chief executive officer. "He has been an integral part of our leadership team for the past three plus years and I have great confidence in his ability to lead and sustain the momentum we are experiencing in that area of our business."

Crowley was named to his new role following the promotion of Naylor to Medica CEO, which was announced last week.

Crowley has more than 17 years of health care experience. Prior to Medica, he most recently worked in the Chicago office of Cigna Corporation. As vice president and national account sales leader, Crowley was responsible for growth in Cigna's large employer segment with a focus on medical, dental, pharmacy and health management solutions. Working extensively with employers, consultants and brokers, he developed strategies and successfully implemented plans to grow Cigna's market share in the Midwest region.

Prior to Cigna, Crowley held consulting positions in the Boston offices of Aon Hewitt and Willis Towers Watson (formerly known as Towers Perrin) and was responsible for the delivery of health and welfare consulting services including benefit plan strategy, pricing, population health, vendor management and onsite wellness solutions. Crowley received his B.S degree from the University of Notre Dame and his Master’s degree in health care administration from Johns Hopkins University School of Public Health.
