LEVEL and Medica Take the Gold at MM&M Awards

Listen Up Named Best Corporate Branding Campaign

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. — At last week's Medical Marketing & Media (MM&M) Awards in New York City, the Listen Up campaign by LEVEL and Medica won the gold in the "Best Corporate Branding Campaign" category. The MM&M Awards are considered the highest accolade in healthcare marketing.

"The Listen Up campaign was designed to show Medica's customers how hard we are working to understand their needs. We think a health plan that truly listens and responds is unique in the marketplace," said Rob Longendyke, Medica Senior Vice President, Marketing and Communications.

The first phase of Listen Up involved internal communications created by LEVEL to help Medica employees learn how to improve member experience. Components of this phase included videos, posters, emails, and more.

A related ad campaign followed that included a three-part TV campaign as well as radio and outdoor ads. To tell the customer service story, LEVEL used a documentary-style approach in the ads that featured real Medica employees.

"Navigating the complexities of health insurance can be challenging, but Medica's customer service ratings climbed nearly 30 percent as a result of this initiative," said Kim Thelen, Vice President, Strategic Planning/Client Service at LEVEL. "We are so proud to tell the stories of Medica's commitment to its members."

One of the MM&M Awards judges noted, "Great strategic insight and execution, both internally and externally." Award entries were seen by a panel of more than 100 judges. These judges consisted of healthcare marketers from the healthcare agency, client, publishing, and service sectors.

"We truly enjoyed using actual employees to generate such compelling work," said Gregg Byers, Creative Director at LEVEL.

"In fact, our employees being featured prominently in the campaign is an authentic way for the company to demonstrate its strong commitment to member experience," said Longendyke.

This is the third time that LEVEL has won the gold at the MM&M Awards.
