Your Personal Health Advocate
Health Advocate™ provides you information, assistance and decision-making tools needed to manage your health and make the most informed health care choices. Your Personal Health Advocate can help you:
- Resolve health care claim issues
- Negotiate billing and payment arrangements with a provider
- Help you locate the best doctors and hospitals available with your plan
- Schedule appointments with providers
- Answer your questions about medical test results, treatments or medications recommended by your physician
- Help you transfer medical records
24-Hour Registered Nurse Guidance
The Health Advocate Nurseline™ provides 24-hours a day, seven days a week services over the phone. You can consult with a registered nurse to receive guidance on appropriate self-care treatment options for non-urgent illnesses. In addition, they can answer your questions about medical test results, treatments or medications recommended by your physician.
Complex Case Management Support
Living with a serious or chronic health condition can be stressful and demanding. To help you cope, Medica has registered nurses available to help you navigate the health care system. They will work with you to:
- Keep track of medications, appointments and referrals
- Communicate more effectively with your doctor
- Help you understand your health conditions
- Assess your health needs, develop a plan and follow up on your progress
Healthy Pregnancy & Parenting Support with Ovia Health

Preventive Care
To help ensure you stay healthy, Medica covers free annual services such as mammograms, immunizations and non-diagnostic colonoscopies. Annual check-ups are also included when a diagnosis is not discussed or treated. These services can be obtained by an in-network provider within an in-network facility.
