Mental Wellness During COVID-19

Medica Behavioral Health

Your mental health is just as important as your physical health. That's why your Medica plan includes coverage for behavioral health services, including mental health and substance abuse care. Medica Behavioral Health staff can help you get the right care when you need it, 24 hours a day, and your call is confidential.

Optum has created a website with timely information about the coronavirus pandemic (available in 18 languages – selection box is in the upper right corner of the site's home page). View resources like webinars, mindfulness techniques for anxiety and more.

Amwell, 24/7 Online Clinic

Connect with a health care provider from your computer or mobile device for most behavioral health concerns.* Amwell's team of experienced therapists and psychiatrists provide care and counseling for a variety of conditions.

During a video consult with Amwell, a therapist or psychiatrist will ask you a series of questions to determine the best treatment plan.

To get started, create an account with Amwell:

Select a health care provider and follow the prompts to start or schedule your visit.

To access:

Medica® Optum® Employee Assistance Program

Get 24/7 support with the Medica® Optum® Employee Assistance Program (EAP). The EAP provides access to:

  • Five counseling sessions per issue per year covered at 100 percent.
  • Help coping with stressful situations, work issues and mental and physical well-being concerns.
  • Legal and mediation services. You receive a 30-minute legal consultation at no cost (in person or over the phone). If you decide to hire an attorney, you'll get a 25% discount.
  • Child care or elder care support, education and career resources, financial advisor support and more.

This service is available at no additional cost to you, as part of your benefit plan.* Calls and conversations with EAP specialists are kept confidential, in accordance with the law.

Nurse Line and Health Support Services

NurseLine and Health Advocacy Services

NurseLine by HealthAdvocateTM services are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Through one simple phone call to HealthAdvocate, you can consult with a registered nurse to receive guidance and appropriate treatment options for non-urgent illnesses and simple, self-care tips for non-urgent concerns.

HealthAdvocate's Health Advocacy services are also available 24 hours a day, seven days a week, to help you find pharmacy and doctor locations near you, walk through billing questions and more.

Medica Care Coordinator

Connect with your Medica Care Coordinator by phone with questions or concerns about your personal health.

NOTE: any in-person assessments (Elderly Waiver assessments/reassessments and PCA assessments) have been suspended at this time. Assessments can be completed over the phone.

If you need assistance locating your care coordinator's contact information, please call: 952-992-2580 or 1-888-347-3630 (toll free) (TTY: 711). Help is available 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday – Thursday or 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., Friday.
